That killer instinct of an idea that lays dormant in your brain, its cage getting smaller and smaller until its trap and thrives to get out and the only way to get relief is to write it down. The tricky part is to make sure it is written down before it takes over and the idea just diminishes to ruble and you can never find that trace of where you started.
Working on a project for weeks, even months on end can make you come up with a routine to go about it, everyday. Once this particular project is done there is a relief that washes over. However now that this routine is no more, you begin to wonder how to construct your day that is now without reason. You may loose that part that makes you feel efficient and have to come up with a new way to go about your day, that is until your next project anyway. This goes for artists, authors, etc. It does not end there though. What happens when a person who normally works out does not have time to go to the gym as much, because they got a new job? They start to function differently, out of the normality of their everyday life. People become institutionalized of their own lives and it is hard to break free of what one knows, especially when they are left with no choice. Some people stay in their current situation even if there is a better way out for them, for they feel they wouldn’t know how to function in a different atmosphere. That is what separates the thinkers and the doers in this world. The doers take that next step forward even if they are unsure of what lies ahead to gain the chance to succeed in what their routine shaped world has not yet encountered.
When creating a work of art people are always trying to figure out the hidden meaning behind it. Sometimes the meaning is hitting the viewer right in the face. What some people refuse to understand is sometimes the meaning is very simple. This is that there is no meaning. An artist can put abstract shapes down on a page just because they like those shapes, not because they are trying to express anything. It is freedom of expression. Other viewers may see something there and if they want to ponder on the possibilities no one will stop them. However art really can be that simple. Art can be what you look at is simply what you get and nothing more.
The ability to write is in everyone of us. Pushing that creative spark to get the dice rolling comes easier to some. By pushing oneself to write everyday, this lets the brain discover new roads not yet traveled. So pick a road and take the walk. It won’t be long before you start running down that road and many others that your brain will open upon arrival.
